There are many people in our country who are unable to understand Islam in a real sense due to illiteracy and poor education. Many consider Islam to be a religion confined to the four walls of a mosque. But Islam is a complete way of life and a universal religion. Islam, the religion of humanity, speaks of the rights and duties of all classes of people, rich and poor, young and old.
Regarding the treatment of children in particular, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘He who does not love children and does not show respect to adults is not one of us.’
Hazrat Abu Huraira (R) said that once the Prophet (SAW) kissed his grandson Hasan (R). Accra bin Harris was present with him at that time. He said, I am the father of ten children. But I never caressed and kissed them. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) looked at him and said, ‘He who does not show mercy is not shown mercy’. (Bukhari: 5651).
